What makes Avène Thermal Spring Water different from regular water?

Avène Thermal Spring Water is ethically sourced from Avène, a community in the Occitanie region of southern France, where the Saint Odile natural thermal spring is found. The water that you find in your spray can has come directly from the spring, unaltered - there is no treatment or preservatives added to the spring water, thanks to proprietary packaging methods. 

Water travels through the surrounding Cevennes mountains and rocks for over 50 years before it reaches the thermal springs, becoming enriched with mineral deposits on the way. 

The result is that the thermal spring water has been found to be infused with calcium, magnesium and silicates, all of which heal the skin, nourish it and restore/maintain the skin’s natural moisture barrier. It’s gentle, with a pH of 7.5 to comfort the skin. 

In 2001, scientists discovered that the thermal spring water also contains a unique microorganism known as Aqua Dolomiae, and studies have shown that it activates an anti-inflammatory response in the body that soothes itching, irritation and other conditions.

What is Avène Thermal Spring Water used for?

Avène Thermal Spring Water is ideal for anyone who wishes to lock in lasting moisture and hydration to their skin. 

Avène Thermal Spring Water can be used to soothe irritation on dry and damaged skin, and is gentle enough to soothe skin after minor laser treatments, radiotherapy and burns, working synergistically with your skin’s natural moisture barrier to reduce irritation and redness. 

Avène Thermal Spring Water can also be used to set makeup, to refresh the complexion during the day and to cool down the skin (for instance, in hot weather, after exercise or in office environments with drying recycled air).

How to use Avène Thermal Spring Water

Step One: After cleansing, spray a fine mist all over the face, after cleansing. Leave the mist to soak for 2 minutes, then gently pat dry.

Step Two: Follow with your favourite serum or daily moisturiser to lock in hydration.

Tip: For intense hydration (especially after microneedling!), try layering the Avène Thermal Spring Water with Hyaluronic Acid Serum.
