The best face serums for every skin concern

Do you want gorgeous, glowing skin? Perhaps you’d like to fight the visible signs of ageing, brighten up your complexion or reduce the appearance of pigmentation and enlarged pores?

Whatever your skin concern and skin type, there is a serum for every skin need. Why not shop the Dr. Pen Australia range of face serum, lotions and moisturiser and find the perfect nutrients to feed your skin from within.

What does face serum do?

Some people describe facial serum as ‘magic in a bottle’ - and whilst there’s no magical way to instantly fix the skin, serum can go a long way to help targeting specific skin concerns such as dullness, dryness, wrinkles, fine lines or pigmentation.

Facial serum is formulated to penetrate deep into the skin, delivering targeted and specific results.

Serums come in many consistencies, but most are lighter than creams and oils. Serums contain nutrients, vitamins and ingredients that nourish your skin from within. Popular ingredients are Hyaluronic Acid, Peptides, Vitamin C, Retinol and Retinoids, for instance.

Everyone’s skin is different, but many dermatologists recommend giving any new serum 6-8 weeks to see the results on your skin, as this is around the amount of time that it will take your skin cells to undergo a full turnover cycle.

Which face serum is best?

Which serum you choose will depend on the results that you hope to achieve, and there is a serum for every need, skin concern and budget!

At Dr. Pen Australia, we carry a range of serums that we think you’ll love.

Why not try our Femvy Hyaluronic Acid Serum - perfect for applying for use with your Dr. Pen Australia Microneedling Pen. It’s infused with water and radish root for thorough hydration, and when combined with Hyaluronic Acid’s ability to cling to water molecules to soak the skin with hydration, it’ll give you plump, glowy, healthy skin.

Natural Organic Vitamin C Serum with Hyaluronic Acid - this serum does double duty, with it’s Hyaluronic Acid bringing the hydration whilst the Vitamin C tightens, brightens and exfoliates the skin, revealing a gorgeous rejuvenated complexion.

Anti-Ageing Serum Pack of Three - containing Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid and Retinol serums. This powerful combination of serums is everything you need to target anti-ageing concerns. These serums will target fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, dryness, dullness, enlarged pores and more. These serums pack a punch!

Can we use face serum daily?

To make the most of a serum’s anti-ageing benefits, you should absolutely use a face serum daily. Every serum has different benefits - such as brightening, toning, hydrating and eliminating fine lines and wrinkles - and different ingredients/concentrations will have different recommended frequency of usage.

For this reason, be sure to check the instructions for each specific serum that you use.

Do I need both serum and moisturiser?

In short, yes!

So what’s the difference between serum and moisturiser or a lotion?

Serums are thin, lightweight and generally water-based fluids that are loaded with vitamins and hydrators to plump the skin and target specific anti-ageing concerns. They’re designed to deeply penetrate the skin, which is why they’re applied before moisturiser.

Moisturisers are generally lotions that are a mix between water based ingredients and oil based ingredients. They pair hydrators found in some serums with nourishing oils, treating the skin to fatty acids including omega-3 and omega-6, which are there to help condition and protect the skin, acting as a barrier between your skin and the elements. The natural oils found in moisturiser work best on the upper layers of the skin, which is why they’re applied after serum.

For a great all-rounder moisturiser to pair with your anti-ageing serum of choice, why not try our Femvy Renewal Moisturising Face Lotion. It’s a lightweight, silky lotion that works to hydrate and exfoliate the upper layers of the skin whilst it deeply hydrates with jojoba oil and shea butter. With continued use, it reveals a fresher, brighter skin tone that you’ll love!
